Isola Bisentina
Lake Bolsena (VT)
Pre-Opening from 25th to 28th April and 01st May 2024
Isola Bisentina in Lake Bolsena will be open again awaiting the grand opening in June when the Church of Saints James and Christopher, which has undergone restoration over the past four years, will be opened to the public.
On this occasion, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the forests of Isola Bisentina by following the Via Crucis of the seven chapels. This is a mystical and artistic project conceived during the Renaissance by the will of Pope Pius II and the Farnese family, continued by Pope Paul III, and completed by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese Junior. The churches are all still standing, with four of them being accessible for visits: The Rocchina of Santa Caterina, the Church of Monte Calvario, the Oratory of Monte Tabor, and the Church of Santa Concordia.
