From the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway coming from the north
exit at Orvieto and follow the road signs for Bolsena.
From Autostrada del Sole A1 coming from the south
exit at Orte and follow the road signs for Viterbo, Lago di Bolsena, Capodimonte.
From Rome
follow the SS (State Road) Cassia northbound, once you have reached Viterbo, continue towards Marta / Capodimonte.
From the north along the Cassia state road
100 km from Siena, enter San Lorenzo Nuovo, one of the eight villages located on the lake. From here please proceed towards Capodimonte or Bolsena.
From the Via Aurelia that runs along the Tyrrhenian Sea both coming from the north (Genoa, Livorno, Grosseto) and coming from the south (Rome, Civitavecchia, Tarquinia)
exit at Montalto di Castro, then following the signs for Canino and Valentano (SR Castrense). From Valentano you can reach Capodimonte in a few minutes.

The railway stations are connected to the villages of Bolsena and Capodimonte by bus.

The lake transport service is operated by two independent companies (Naviga Bolsena & Navigazione Alto Lazio). The cost of the ticket is divided into € 22 (guided tour of the island) + € 20 (boat trip managed by a company outside the Bisentina Island).

Guests are required to wear suitable clothing for wild nature, in particular footwear must be suitable for a type of wooded environment.Visitors shall be equipped with boots and umbrellas in case of rain and bring sun protection during the hottest days.

It is not possible to buy drinks of any kind on the island. Visitors are encouraged to bring a water bottle.

The island is equipped with toilets.

Visitors will be accompanied on the island by a tourist guide authorized by the Lazio Region, identifiable via a specific card.
For everyone’s safety, visitors are invited to:

  • Follow the indications of the guide and not move away from the group;
  • Scrupulously respect the prohibitions and always remain within the pre -reported routes;
  • Respect all warnings present on the appropriate signs, (e.g. prohibition of approach, danger of collapse, etc.);
  • Check the children so that they are always under their visual control, to prevent unauthorized removals;
  • Do not approach the animals on the island;
  • Do not enter the construction site areas.

In case of fire or need for immediate evacuation  please follow all signals on the island.
The island is a heritage to be protected. For its safeguard and conservation:

  • Do not remove materials;
  • Do not damage the state of the places;
  • Respect biodiversity;
  • Do not feed the animals;
  • Picnics and littering on the island are strictly prohibited.
